I know everyone will have been horrified by the scenes coming out of Kabul over the last 2 weeks and that is underlined by the many emails I have received expressing concern and offering help.
As I write I have just heard the very welcome news that a constituent from Lancing and his family have boarded a flight out of Kabul after a week in and out of queues dodging the Taliban, stampedes and general chaos.
It was good to see the strong turnout at the Lancing Beach Green Park Run as another regular outdoor pursuit gradually returns to normal. No doubt spurred on by the Olympics around 100 enthusiastic runners of all shapes, sizes and speeds for the 2 Saturday morning events so far.
Parliament rose for the summer recess last Thursday with me still trying to catch up on a few hundred emails which have been relentless over recent weeks, particularly with constituents trying to make sense of the travel rules as we come out of lockdown.
