It was a privilege to speak in the debate on ‘Women’s Mental Health’ in the Chamber, where I spoke about the impact that perinatal mental health is having on the mental health of generations of women in this country.
Perinatal mental health affects at least one in six women and is estimated to cost the nation £8.1bn a year - this is a huge issue for women’s mental health. As former Children’s Minister, Chair of the APPG on ‘Conception to Age 2 - the first 1001 days’, co-Chair of the APPG on ‘Mindfulness’ and Chair of the Parent-Infant Partnership Charity PIPUK, this is an issue that I care particularly deeply about.
