I know a lot of my constituents share my disappointment that the Adur Planning Committee decided to approve the plans for New Monks Farm. There are numerous concerns about the impact it will have on traffic, congestion and our environment.
However we are not at the end of the journey, the application must now go to the Secretary of State, James Brokenshire, who has the power to ask for the application to be looked at again in more detail. I will keep up the fight and have been lobbying the Secretary of State to call this application in as it has huge implications for the surrounding area and the A27, which is one of the busiest roads in the south east.
I am a customer of IKEA and so have nothing against IKEA, but what I am concerned about is the estimated 2 million customers arriving, mostly by road, every year. This will cause massive problems to the A27 and the traffic roaring past me in the video will come to an end and we'll be left with gridlock.
