Fantastic to hear that 7 projects have been awarded funding in the last three months from the Big Lottery Fund in Adur & Worthing. The 7 projects are:
1. Smart Dog CIC - £10,000
The project will bring people with learning disabilities together to take part in an AS level course in Customer service. They are then encouraged to work in the community with enthusiasm and confidence.
2. Sussex Bears Basketball Club - £9,984
The project aims to reduce anti-social behaviour among young people, promoting a healthier lifestyle and creating better education and training opportunities. Support will be delivered through workshops as well as using sport as a tool for social change.
3. Blueprint 22 - £9,945
The group will provide a range of activities for young people suffering from mental health issues to help them increase their confidence, form long lasting and non-abusive relationships and improve their mental and physical wellbeing.
4. Wellspring West Sussex – £9,900
The project aims to provide meaningful activities and workshops to stimulate and engage young people with disabilities through music, poetry, art and creative writing. This will encourage communication, group working and problem solving.
5. 3rd Worthing (Broadwater) Scout Group - £8,000
The project will replace the flooring in their centre, with a view to sustaining the centre as a facility for the wider community.
6. Sompting Community Church – £5,642
This organisation will deliver a week of free activities during the summer holidays. This will bring people together and foster a positive community spirit.
7. International Neighbours - £1,560
The organisation will run a one day music and cultural event with a view to bringing people from different communities and cultures together to promote community cohesion.
