Yesterday, Shadow International Trade Minister Bill Esterson was asked 11 times on the Today Programme – and a further 5 times on 5Live – what Labour’s plan for customs union membership is, and each time he refused to say. His confusion echoes the contradictory statements put out by the Labour leadership. Shadow Brexit Secretary Keir Starmer and Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn want to keep the option on the table while Andrew Gwynne and Shadow International Trade Secretary Barry Gardiner want us to leave the customs union.
The Conservatives have a plan for #Brexit and will make the most of the opportunities it brings, see here: https://www.timloughton.com/news/negotiating-objectives-brexit-customs.
Whereas Labour still have no idea what they think.
