I do seem to have some very energetic seniors in my constituency who like to keep me on my toes. Long may it be so. Fresh from my dance class exertions with Dinkie (thanks to all those who sponsored her and for those who haven’t there is still time to do so) I will now be joining sprightly 97-year-old Worthing resident Ant Gillings on a 5-mile sponsored walk from Shoreham Beach to the Ardington Hotel, Worthing where the owner Simon Margaroli will be laying on a welcoming party.
The walk next week is in aid of the excellent sight impairment charity 4Sight, who did much to help Ant’s late partner Peggy who was a stalwart of Shoreham Beach where she was born, St Mary’s church and many other local good causes until her death a few months ago. I took Ant as a guest to the Queen’s laying-in state, and he insisted on walking from the train at Blackfriars to Westminster Hall and back and we had our work cut out keeping up with him, so this should be a doddle! Again, any support would be much appreciated and there is a Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/Anthony-Gillings
Happy 25th birthday to originally Shoreham and now Worthing business, Hunters Recruitment which has just moved to Marine Parade. Owners Patrick and Anna O’Donoghue laid on a great celebration party at the new office on Friday and I wonder how they will get any work done giving the views from the fantastic location on the seafront. They have also done a great job in raising money for local good causes, Turning Tides, St Barnabas, Safe in Sussex and Care for Veterans who were all represented there.
Amongst many others I was joined by Peter Bottomley and the Mayor Henna Chowdhury with her husband on one of her last official duties after an outstanding year and we which her well for her future acclimatising to not having a heavy chain round her neck.
