I know many people have been troubled by the surprise news that Leonard Cheshire would be selling 27 Beach Green, leaving the four residents uncertain of where they would end up living.
I am pleased to say that in March Cllr Kevin Boram and I had a positive meeting with Leonard Cheshire to discuss what is going on with 27 Beach Green.
Given there was a six month delay between the decision being made and it being communicated to the residents, I am very pleased that Leonard Cheshire have agreed to reset the clock on the termination of the lease. I understand this was not entirely Leonard Cheshire’s fault, with the lease operator of the house (Clarion) also involved, but they accept the communication was inadequate and have apologised.
All options are now on the table as Leonard Cheshire want to achieve the best possible outcome for the four residents. Cllr Boram and I will be looking at whether the local council can potentially step in with an improved support package to make the current arrangement more viable.
I am pleased to say that Leonard Cheshire have been very responsive and have worked with us constructively, so I am hopeful that we can get a good outcome for the four residents of 27 Beach Green and the local community.
