Dinkie is two thirds the way to her 102nd birthday fundraising target and thank you to everyone who has been so generous so far. I donned my gym kit to join her for an hour’s exercise in her garage last Thursday to put through some dance moves. By the end of it I was knackered and there was not a bead of sweat to be seen on Dinkie. Full video coming soon!
Fortunately before ending up a wreck with Dinkie I visited Cox Powertrain, an impressive and relatively new business on Shoreham Airport. The company makes high power and energy efficient engines for a range of marine applications from small pleasure craft to navy warships. They are also exploring engines powered by environmentally sustainable hydrated vegetable oils and have contracts with the US coastguard and Australian army and others for example.
This is certainly a business for the future employing over 150 mostly highly skilled workers already and we are lucky to have them in Adur. It is also just the sort of business that can appeal to local schools to enthuse students about science and provide a supply of much needed engineers in the future.
