As former Children's Minister, I am so happy to see more young people in work. After the 2008 crash the situation was truly awful for young people and many faced long-term unemployment. Thankfully recent stats show that youth unemployment rate is now 12.5% down from 22.5% in 2011.
Whilst there are still big problems we face, particularly in providing genuinely affordable homes for young people and ensuring that all have the opportunity to succeed whether they go to university or not, we can all welcome this great news.
Youth unemployment has been cut by over 400,000 under the Conservatives, meaning more young people are able to build a better future for themselves.
