Hundreds of 1950s Women’s Action Groups protesting against changes to the State Pension age staged a demonstration outside Parliament last week. After the protest, I hosted a meeting of supportive MPs and WASPI women to discuss the key issues affecting them. The vast majority of women there were clearly concerned with finding a compromise that would work for the government. They are quite right to take this view, as any attempt to reverse either of the Pensions Act, including 2011, would be colossally expensive. Instead the WASPI All-Party Parliamentary Group with the help of WASPI women is working on proposals to put to the DWP.
