I had a very useful meeting with headteachers, education and planning officers from West Sussex County Council, local councillors and parents from the Future of Adur Schools Team (FAST), discussing the future provision of school places in Shoreham.
This is a big issue and was raised with me frequently last year by concerned parents, who were not able to get their children into Shoreham Academy, in particular.
Going forward, we know there is going to be considerable development, more people moving here from Brighton due to housing costs and demographic changes with lots of young families moving into the area. Therefore, it is imperative that we ensure we have the necessary school places to meet demand so that all parents and children can get into the schools they want.
I will be holding a public meeting later this year specifically for parents who have children going into local schools in order to give a full rundown on the options open to them.
