Tim Loughton MP (East Worthing and Shoreham) visited Dogs Trust Shoreham, where he was greeted by plenty of waggy tails from dogs looking for new owners.
Mr Loughton was given a tour of the Brighton road re-homing centre, and met a number of dogs currently awaiting their forever homes, including a Betty and Boogie the Beagles.
Following the visit, Dogs Trust Shoreham’s Supporter Relations Officer Pia Offord said:
“We were delighted to welcome Tim to our re-homing centre and it was a great opportunity to show him the work we do for the dogs in our care.
"Like all of us at Dogs Trust Shoreham, it was great to hear that Tim also cares so deeply about animal welfare and it was a fantastic opportunity to discuss key dog welfare issues that we feel so strongly about, including the importance of positive-reinforcement training when it comes to being a responsible dog owner.”
Tim Loughton MP, commented:
“I really enjoyed my visit to Dogs Trust and its re-homing centre in my constituency of Shoreham.
"It was fantastic to see the wonderful efforts of staff at the re-homing centre who work so tirelessly to ensure that all of the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after.
"I was particularly impressed by the passion and enthusiasm that staff have for the well-being of their canine residents and delighted to learn that they are going above and beyond to re-home so many unwanted dogs.”
Last year the Shoreham re-homing centre re-homed 329 dogs and has already re-homed 94 this year. If you are interested in adopting a four-legged friend from them please contact the re-homing centre on 0300 303 0292 or look at the current residents online at www.dogstrust.org.uk.
