Following my trip to Israel and Palestine, I am very keen to hold a discussion event with my constituents to understand their views on the matter, as I know it is an issue that many have written to me about and is something people are very passionate about.
I do not have all the answers as to how we solve this huge diplomatic impasse, which has been made worse by the behaviour of both governments, including the Israeli government whose recent killing of Palestinians at the border on the day the US embassy was moved to Jerusalem was a disgrace.
I have now seen first hand how badly the people of Palestine have been forced to live and heard stories of life within the Gaza Strip - we were not allowed in during my trip.
I have seen the huge walls and new settlements stationed around and within the West Bank, I've also heard the stories of terrorist attacks by the Palestinians against innocent Israelis, including children, and nothing, including the awful condition they live in, can absolve those who attempt to take the lives of innocent Israelis.
Both governments have a lot to answer for. Israel's aggressive approach often over steps the mark, however Hezbollah's rhetoric about Israel is appalling and completely contemptible and the UK rightly continues to see them as a terrorist organisation. So whilst Israel has treated the Palestinian people badly this does not excuse the way Hezbollah approach the issue of peace.
This is the diplomatic conundrum I would very much like to discuss with you and listen to your views and proposed solutions.
