The NHS is always going to excite an emotional reaction given its incredible importance to us all - we all have a story of how the NHS has helped us and our families. Despite the pressures it is worth remembering that since 2010 the NHS has:
Treated 2,300 more patients in A&E within the 4 hour target every day
Employed 12,000 additional doctors
11,500 additional nurses and midwives
Carried out 1.9m more operations
Ensured 822,000 more people seen by a cancer specialist
Halved the rate of infections in NHS hospitals
These are facts. This is progress. This was only possible due to the record funding the Conservatives have put into the NHS and the remarkable work and dedications of our NHS staff, we are aware of how brilliant NHS staff are locally at Worthing Hospital.
Of course there are pressures, locally we need more GPs for example and a long-term solution to social care, of course there will never be enough money - it is almost an infinite ask - but we are committed to our NHS - we promised an additional £10bn into the NHS in 2015 and we are promising a further £8bn this time.
Please don't believe the scare stories and please do not let people talk down our NHS.
